Samsung has just announced its latest line of tablets – the Galaxy TabPro and Galaxy Tab NotePro – tablets focused on ‘productivity and multitasking’. These two tablets will be available with 12.2 inch displays, though the TabPro will also be available in 8.4 inch and 10.1 inch avatars. Read on to know more about these new Samsung tablets below the break.
There has been plenty of talk about how tablet manufacturers are moving to larger form factors for their products in order to expedite the convergence of tables and notebooks. There have been constant rumors about Apple’s plans to launch an iPad with a 12.2 inch screen, dubbed the iPad Pro, in the first half of 2014. However, it looks like Samsung has beaten Apple to the finish line with the new Galaxy TabPro and NotePro tablets, both of which have 12.2 inch variants.
All 4 variants of these new Samsung tablets will have ultra high resolution 2560 x 1600 pixel displays, the very latest version of Android (v4.4, AKA KitKat), Wi-Fi and LTE versions, and will also have an 8 MP camera and a 2 MP front camera.
All these new tablets offer an unprecedented amount of multitasking abilities for Android tablets. Samsung has dabbled in multiwindowed apps before in order to provide true multitasking abilities to some of its newer devices already (the new Note tablet and phablet come to mind), allowing for an app to exist as a window overlaying another app. With the TabPro and NotePro tablets however, Samsung goes the whole hog and allows for four pane multitasking, each of them resizable and multilayered.
No pricing details about any of these new Samsung tablets are known as of yet, but Samsung hasn’t been afraid to charge premium prices for its Note line of devices. The TabPro may just be a different beast altogether and provide an economical option for consumers to get their hands on truly productivity oriented tablets.
