The list was comprised of a combination of the top downloads and the editors’ choices among the apps for both the iPhone and iPad. Read on below the break for the first of our 2 parter about Apple’s ‘Best of 2013’ list, and it’s geared toward apps for the iPad.

iPad Apps of the Year:

Disney Animated ($9.99)

There isn’t much of a surprise here as Disney’s fabulous app brought to life decades of animation from the biggest animation company in the world in one brilliantly designed package.

Traktor DJ ($19.99)

Unconvinced by Apple’s Garage Band? Traktor DJ app took away any shreds of doubt anyone had about whether the iPad could aid musicians and DJs, making it a breeze to come up with a great mix of any song in a few moments.

WWF Together (Free)

The World Wildlife Fund is a widely respected conservation organization that has earned rightful praise for the beautiful ‘Together’ iOS app that highlights some of the most exotic and endangered creatures in the world.

 iPad Games of the Year

Badland ($3.99)

No surprises here either as this beautiful, atmospheric game has been widely considered to be the best new game in the App Store this year.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown ($19.99)

This turn based tactical RPG has some amazing graphics and challenging gameplay, and despite its high looking price tag, it’s a game that can be played over and over for the most bang for buck.
