Samsung has confirmed yet another smartphone mode, which frankly comes as no surprise to anyone. The Galaxy Grand original was followed by Galaxy Grand 2 which was announced just a couple of months back. The latest addition to the Galaxy Grand series is the Galaxy Grand Lite (GT-I9060). This model will take its place in the lineup between Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Grand 2.
Samsung is expected to showcase the Galaxy Grand Lite in the Mobile World Congress which will be held in late February next year. Grand Lite will have a 5 inch WVGA screen, 1 GB of RAM, 1.2 GHz processor, 8 GB worth of internal memory which can be expanded using the microSD card slot and a battery of 2100 mAh.
Most of the above mentioned specs make the device a kind of cross between Grand and Grand 2. One of the few areas were it differs from them is the camera, which is 5 MP on the rear and a VGA camera on the front. As of now, the information is that the Grand Lite will run on Android 4.2 out of the box, but this might change and its expected to come with atleast Android 4.3.
Speculation is that the phone might also come equipped with two SIM slots, which is popular in countries like China and India. Grand Lite will be available in 3 colors as of now: Orange, Midnight Black and Lime Green.
Daddy was a thief is a Rebel Twins' game, which can best be described by the phrase "endless faller". In this game you get to play as a dad who has to escape after robbing a bank. There is some backstory provided in the splash screen of the game, which tells us that the guy has been fired from his job, so to provide for his family, he decides to start robbing banks.
Each time the game starts, dad is seen escaping from a bank by jumping onto the roof of the adjacent building to escape the authorities. The character is always running from left to right, changing direction whenever he encounters the wall or furniture. The controls are simple; you can either swipe up to jump or swipe down to smash through the floor and go to the floor below.
Since the character is always running, you have to time your jumps efficiently. The goal is to smash as many objects possible and cause destruction, and ultimately, collect more coins. The game is aesthetically beautiful, with different color on each floor. The arrangement of furniture too is random on each floor, so that the game does not feel repetitive.
You might encounter some angry grannies, shrink rays, and random missiles on your way which make your escape much more challenging. There are also policemen on some floors that can kill you with one hit. The coins you collect can be used to purchase power ups and other one time use items that make your job easier.
The game is available on both Android and iOS stores for $1.99.

Nokia's first ever tablet is out and it competes directly with Microsoft's own Surface 2. One unique thing about Lumia 2520 is that it doesn't come in WiFi only models and it joins the very small club of LTE enabled tablets. Lumia 2520 is available with both AT&T and Verizon at a price os $399, with a data plan.
Lumia 2520 scores pretty well in the looks department. It has the same familiar look and feel that we have come to like in Nokia Lumia series of Windows phones. Unlike Surface 2, Nokia has decided to make this tablet entirely out of plastic, which in turn has made the tablet more comfortable to hold. The glossy plastic finish has also made the tablet prone to collecting scratches and fingerprints pretty easily, which could be a big problem for some. The tablet weighs about 1.36 pounds, compared to iPad Air's 1 pound, which means it becomes fatiguing to hold it for a long time.
Luma 2520 has a rounded profile, which means it has no kickstand and full size USB ports. It has a 3.0 micro USB port, micro HDMI port and a micro SD card slot. The tablet has a 10 inch screen at an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The display is quite bright and crisp, although it has a lower pixel density (218 ppi) than other tablets in this category.
The tablet has a 2 MP front facing wide angle camera and a 6.7 MP rear camera. Nokia offers a $149 power keyboard cover which can be snapped onto the tablet and used without any further setup.
Combo crew is an unusual fighting game. While most such mobile games employ virtual on screen controls which actually are very cumbersome to use, Combo Crew uses multitouch gestures which make the gameply immensely satisfying.
Players have to fight hundreds of minions to advance and ultimately battle the boss, aptly named Mr. Boss. The game has got everything in it, including evil looking bad guys, great visuals and animations, lots and lots of action and amazing control scheme.
You can attack an enemy by swiping your finger on the screen in the correct direction. The one finger swipe is the most basic attack move in the game. Since the character automatically moves to whoever you are trying to attack, there are no directional controls. A two finger swipe initiates a combo attack, and you can choose out of 4 different combos to use, by swiping up, down, left or right. There are different characters to choose from and each character has his or her own fighting style. The game is currently available free on the App store as the free app of the week.
Below is a snippet from the description of the App as seen on the app store:
"Play this action-packed brawler alone or call in your whole crew! You can rescue online friends from KO (or have them rescue you) and compete for high scores on global leaderboards. Quick melee brawls in arena-style levels make Combo Crew perfect for intense bursts of gaming on the go. But with hundreds of missions, unlockables, and an endless mode, you’ll keep coming back for more."
After months long battle between the two technology giants of the elctronics sector , Samsung and Apple, over the patent rights, the jury finally announced its verdict on Friday for the same. It is decided by jury that Samsung should pay a sum of $ 290 million to Apple in damages of patent infringement of Apple's original product concept. Apple accused Samsung for copying its key features from iPhone and iPad devices. Apple also claimed that its iPad mini is not inspired by the trending 7-inch tablets in the market rather, an original idea.
In August last year, Samsung was found guilty by the US jury for infringing of Apple's patents for a host of devices. It was initially decided by the Jury that Samsung should pay $1.05 million indamages of patent infringement, but on further digging into the case , judge Koh determined that the amount jury has decided is not proper corresponding to the damanges reported. Subsequently , the jury had to cut down the amount to nearly its half , a sum of $600 million approximately.
The current subject of the retrial case was the balance of the amount for the damages. A total amount of $290,456,793 as finally decided by the jury is due to be payble by Samsung to Apple. Though Apple was requsting a settlement including $380 where as Samsung was targeting a mere $52 million in damages retrial.
After a half an hour long review meeting , the legal representative teams of both the companies met again to discuss over the final settlement. Apple after arguing over a mere two million finally accepted the judgement, with no objections from Samsung.
Though soon after the verdict got announced, Samsung voiced its disappointment over the verdict and said in a statement that it will move forward with the post-trial appeals and motions. " We're disappointed by today's decision, which is in large part on a patent that the US patent and the Trademark Office has recently deemed invalid" said the Samsung's spokesperson. Apple too had said that " for Apple this case has always been about more than patents and money" continuing the statement by saying " it has been about innovation".
Samsung is now planning to appeal against the $290 million lawsuit verdict. A third trial of the case was expected in early 2014, with Apple claiming that Samsung has copied its key features for newest Samsung products.
Activision's latest Call of Duty game for mobile devices has come after a gap of almost 2 years. Call of Duty: Strike Team is different from the previous version in that it is not just a port of the console game, but properly optimized for mobile devices.
In Call of Duty : Strike Team, players get to follow the adventures of a squad of troops while trying to defeat Cordis Die. The game is set in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 universe, and the game story is engaging enough to keep gamers occupied till the end. The campaign too has a good amount of content which promises hours and hours of gameplay.
One of the best features in the game is the ability to switch from first person shooter mode to tactical mode at any point in the game. The tactical mode is a birds eye view, which makes it convenient to move your troops to a point on the map or issue a command to attack a target. This feature works wonders on a touch screen, which makes the game much more enjoyable.
The tactical mode can be used for formulating and emplying various tactics of attacking using flanking and stealth. Also, since the missions are not very lengthy, it makes the game fun to play for short intervals. As can be expected from an Activision game, the visual are crisp and striking and the gameplay is smooth. There are other game modes offer addition replay value to the game.
Though facing negative crticisism from almost everyone who laid his hands on one, Samsung has outdone everyone by shipping a massive 800,000 Galaxy Gear smartwatces in just two months. According to Samsung officials, the hefty number has reportedly made the Galaxy Gear the most popular smartwatch in the world, as reported in an article by Reuters.
The report also says that that the sales of the smartwatch had actually surpassed the expections of even Samsung. It is far beyond the numbers predicted by tech industry experts and analysts. The reason why Samsung touched such a heavy sales figure is quite likely by regional promotions and discounts offered along with subsidies coupled with a mangnum opus Samsung smartphone for its users across the globe.
Another reason for such high sales is smart marketing. There had been high profile campaings in collaboration with celebrities, popular figures and fashion houses. Though Samsung has not revealed the exact amount of money spent the promotion of the product, but it is evident from the quality of advertisements and collaborations with who's who that none of it came at a cheap price.
To keep the sales figure soaring, Samsung has recently updated its smartwatch with improved notification support and says it plans to expand its sales promotion for the Christmas and new year's.Samsung is also planning on include more devices in the spectrum that can interface with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. Initially Gear was compatible with just one phone, the Galaxy Note III, but now it has an interface with Samsung Galaxy S4 too.
The Infinity Blade series has been one of the most important game franchises for the iOS platform, which evident from the fact that Apple has shown off the game to flaunt its new iPhones and iPads. The latest installment in the series is the Infinity Blade 3, which is not much different from the first two games.
Just like its predecessors, Infinity Blade 3 does not offer any deeper story line. The gameplay is almost exacly the same as before and it might feel repetitive, but according to Donald Mustard, the co founder of Chair, Infinity Blade is not meant to be played for hours on end. He says, "it's just about trying to always balance the game in a way that gives players really rewarding game play every two minutes."
Lookwise, Infinity Blade 3 is even more gorgeous than the last two games in the series. This is also the first game in the franchise which takes the players to more than one location, as opposed to the last two games which were set entirely within one castle. The world map in Infinity Blade 3 has eight different worlds, and more worlds can be added by paying and downloading additional content. Also there are now two playable characters instead of one, including a new female assassin named Isa.
There are new upgrades to choose from when you level up, and there is more stuff to buy, so even though the core gameplay remains the same, Infinity Blade 3 offers a much more diverse experience than before.
