Samsung Galaxy Round is the latest new smartphone to come out of Samsung's labs and is the first one ever to boast a horizontally curved display. The screen is a full HD Super AMOLED display, which fits into the slightly curved body of the phone. According to Samsung, the curve makes the device a lot easier to hold and use.
The Galaxy Round has a 5.7 inch screen and Samsung has added software features to take full advantage of the curviness of the device. For example, when kept on a flat surface, the phone can be tilted to one side to reveal various information such as date, time, missed calls and current battery level of the phone. This has been called the Roll feature. This feature also works when there is a song playing. The phone can then be tilted left or right to go to the previous or the next song.
Galaxy Round borrows a few features from Samsung Galaxy Note III, such as one-hand operation, which enables the user to shrink the display to a smaller size so that its possible to use the phone with one hand. Also, users can open two apps at the same time in a top down format.
Samsung has equipped the device with top of the line hardware, ensuring a snappy performance. The Galaxy round has the same processor the one found in Note III, i.e quad-core Snapdragon 800. The device also has 3 GB of RAM and a 13 Megapixal camera.
Samsung has announced this phone only in Korea right now and it might be a while before it comes to other countries.
