At the Mobile UNPACKED event, Samsung had announced that it will start releasing updates for Samasung Galaxy S4 in the month of October, and it kept the promise: Android 4.3(JellyBean) update has been rolled out for Galaxy S4.
Though there are not much visual changes to the look and feel of Jelly Bean 4.3 but there are tons of other system improvements and optimizations. There is a remarkable change in the OS speed, the device does feels much faster to use than before. Samsung didn’t provide logs of the changes made to Android 4.3 , but after testing and getting a hands on experience with the device, here is the list of changes that have been noticed.
Changes and improvements in Android 4.3 update are: TRIM Support (to make the device much faster),ANT+ Support,Samsung KNOX Implementation (KNOX bootloader and dedicated application),Samsung Wallet comes pre-loaded,Improved RAM management,Improved Display colour reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before),Improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag),New Samsung Keyboard,New Samsung Browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more),New Reading Mode (Optimises display for reading, used by only a few specific applications),New Camera firmware,Minor UI tweaks (Contacts app, Flashlight Widget, dialog boxes etc).
The software update is being released in per country batches , so it may not be available in some country as of now. If the device is carrier branded then the update may take sometime as it first has to get the update improved by the carrier, and then only Samsung will be able to make it available for a carrier branded device.
To update a Galaxy S4 to android 4.3 , you can connect your device to your computer and use Samsung Kies or Samsung’s OTA service and hit update.
