Apple to launch iOS 7 for iPhones, iPads and iPods on September 18
This entry was posted on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.
Apple just had its major event today, and amidst a host of announcements, one was probably being looked forward to by the legions of current Apple device owners than the others, and that was the launch date of Apple’s iOS 7. Read on below the break to know more.
Apple will be pushing out iOS 7 to the list of compatible devices as follows:
- iPhones: iPhone 4 onwards will get iOS 7, i.e. iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5.
- iPads: iPad 2 onwards, i.e. iPad 2, and the third and fourth generation iPads get iOS 7. The first iPad is left out, as expected.
- iPod Touch: only 5th gen iPods and later will get iOS 7, as earlier ones don’t have the system resources to support it.
Do note that out of the compatible devices mentioned above, the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 will get the iOS 7 update after all, but it will be following a slight delay.
While iOS 7 may be too radical a redesign for some, it does bring in some much needed additions and a long overdue makeover to what Apple calls ‘the world’s most popular operating system’. If you have devices released by Apple in the last year or three, you are in for some luck in a week’s time, as you will be getting the fresh new Apple OS on your device. Stay tuned to know more about it!
