Samsung event lined up on September 4; to reveal Note III and smartwatch?

Samsung’s not one to stay away from device launches for two long, and the latest rumor doing the rounds is that it has a fairly major event lined up in a month from now, on the 4th of September. The reports indicate that the Korean giant has at least two important devices up for that event, and it is rather likely that you have heard a fair bit about them already. One of them is the Galaxy Note III, the third in Samsung’s line of bestselling premium phablets, and the other is, interestingly, a smartwatch that is being dubbed ‘Gear’ apparently. Read on below the break to know more about the report!
The Galaxy Note III is expected to have a 5.7-inch, 1080p AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 800 chip, 13MP camera, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, according to the leaks about it so far. Details about the Samsung Gear smartwatch are sketchier, however. Apart from the fact that it will run on some version of the Android OS, there’s little to go by from the leaks so far.
Samsung is clearly in a rush to beat Apple to the punch in getting a smartwatch out to the public in double quick time. Given that there isn’t really a market for smartwatches yet (apart from niche products such as the Pebble watch), it is hard to predict how the Gear will turn out. The Note III will, however, continue with the tradition of success that the Galaxy Note line seems to be associated with, in all likelihood. Stay tuned!
