Google Maps for iPad gets a major update

Just a few days since the launch of the revamped Google Maps app for Android, Google has gone on to launch a similarly redesigned version of its leading mapping and navigation app for iOS. In particular, the iPad version of the app has received some significant updates. In order to know more, read on below the break!
Version 2.0 of the Google Maps app for iOS has introduced a new design for the iPad
version of the app, for starters. It claims to provide enhanced navigation including live traffic updates and incident reports
for the route that you're traveling by. It is a lot easier to explore new places as well now with the help of Maps. A card based approach is used to suggest popular local places to eat, drink, shop, play and sleep
, all in a fairly aesthetic way. It's a lot easier to find places with 5-star ratings and reviews from friends, and there is expert Zagat content
thrown in for good measure. Google Offers can even bring great deals from your favorite brands to you quite easily.
Finally, indoor navigation has been added in to version 2.0, with walking directions for malls, transit stations, airports and more available in the app.
Google has managed to maintain its iron grip in the mapping sector of mobile and tablet platforms due to the colossal failure that was Apple's very own Maps app. With additional integration into Google Now's personalization cards (for those who do choose to opt in to it, of course), Google Maps is simply the best available option for both iOS and Android right now, and will probably remain so for some time.
