Skype for iPad updated
This entry was posted on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
The popular Skype voice and text messaging app for pretty much every platform under the sun has been updated for the Apple iPad tablet. Now, Skype has reached version 4.6, and its App Store listing claims that this new version is the harbinger to a ‘beautiful new calling experience’.
If you do actually use the new Skype app for the iPad, the user interface is a lot fresher and cleaner than it used to be. It shares its design philosophy with the Skype app for Windows 8, which is a very well designed piece of software in itself.
The change log for Skype version 4.6 for the iPad (as well as the previous version, in case you want to compare) is as follows:
“What's New in Version 4.6
✓ Beautiful new calling experience
✓ Mark all your recent chats as read with just a few taps.
✓ General fixes and improvements
- One-to-one chats now appear in the correct order.
✓ Skype automatically reconnects a dropped call when your wifi or mobile network reception is poor
✓ Add money to your Skype account directly from the app to send SMS or call mobiles and landlines worldwide. Currently available in United States, United Kingdom, France, Sweden and Estonia.
✓ A simple swipe from the left of the screen opens your recent conversations in a new sidebar
✓ General fixes
One-to-one chats now appear in the correct order”
