Imangi Studios have released the sequel to their highly praised endless-running game, calling it Temple Run 2. The first installment was extremely successful on both iOS and Android platforms, spawning dozens of games set in a similar gameplay model of running endlessly, jumping and sliding to avoid obstacles while trying to get away from what appears to be monster monkeys.
Temple Run 2 is pretty much the same, in that the core gameplay elements and controls have not been changed too much from the original game, even though Imangi Studios completely rewrote the game. The basics remain the same, swiping up, down, left and right to maneuver ‘Guy’ through a path laden with various obstacles and full of sharp turns. The difference, is now the graphics are much better and richer than before, along with a lot of gameplay enhancements. The power-ups found in the game remain more or less the same, but players can now activate a shield at any time in the game which will protect them from bumping into obstacles and dying. There’s also an option to revive your character if you die, by paying using diamonds. As expected, these diamonds are hard to come by and can be purchased as an in app purchase.
The new features as mentioned in the game description on the App store are as follows:
- Beautiful new graphics
- Gorgeous new organic environments
- New obstacles
- More powerups
- More achievements
- Special powers for each character
- Bigger monkey!!!
The game is only available for iOS for now and can be downloaded free of cost. The Android version is supposed to come within a week.
