Apple launches iPad Mini

So the day is finally here - the iPad Mini is no longer stuff belonging to lore and speculation, as Apple have finally announced the smaller version of their phenomenally popular 9.7 inch tablets.
The new Apple tablet has a 7.9 inch screen with a slightly sub par resolution of 1024x768. All of the 250,000 tablet dedicated apps meant for the iPad work perfectly in the smaller screen of the iPad Mini. It is encased in a scarcely believable 7.2mm casing and promises the usual 10 hours of battery life.
The iPad Mini is far from a cheap tablet. Apple has never tried getting into a price war, and has concentrated on focusing on higher and higher profit margins. The iPad Mini keeps in line with Apple policy, with a starting price of $329 for the basic 16GB WiFi only model. Just to give you an idea, the 16 GB WiFi only version of the Google Nexus 7 costs $249, and has been expected to get a price slash in the coming week or two.
Apple will start shipping the new iPad on the 2nd of November. While the iPad Mini may not be the most value for money tablet out there, in case you are heavily invested in to the Apple ecosystem, it just makes more sense to go for it rather than trying to save some bucks on tablets like the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus 7 - which, in accordance with their price, are good but not great tablets.
