Japan's Panasonic is all set to launch its official Android application that will allow its consumers to control their compatible Panasonic home appliances. Panasonic's executive for consumer marketing, Yukio Nakashima, said, "Technology and products such as the Internet, cell phones, and smart phones are rapidly spreading into our lives. Our home appliances will also change,"

Among the compatible devices include a washing machine that can download the number of washing cycles suitable for a type of detergent, also, a Wi-Fi air-conditioner that can be controlled from outside the house and a refrigerator that will keep record of the energy consumption and optimize it according to the usage of the appliance. The application, claimed to optimize power consumption of Panasonic's home appliances, will also be capable to estimate the power consumption of appliances and would allow the consumer to monitor energy consumption of compatible devices.

Panasonic's new lineup will be available for sale in Japan during next three months. Appliances that will support the new Android application include, refrigerators, air-conditioners, televisions, digital recorders and health care devices.

All these devices can be controlled through the free Android application which offers user manuals and instructions on how to use the application to control relevant appliances. Panasonic has also launched its application for iPhone, however, these can only be enjoyed by their consumers in Japan. Panasonic is yet to reveal its plans regarding launching their application globally.
