iPad Mini may be announced in October, after iPhone 5 announcement

New speculation hints that the iPad Mini will be announced several weeks after the announcement of the next generation iPhone. We previously reported that the next iPhone and the iPad Mini were to be announced at a keynote on September 12. However, as analysts look further into this scenario, new reports are suggesting otherwise. Analysts are questioning the logic of announcing two major products in one keynote. Both the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini will attract major media attention. However, attention will be focused on two products instead of just one. Analysts believe that Apple is looking for the media to focus on one major product announcement at a time.
New reports indicate that Apple will announce the next generation iPhone at a keynote (rumored to occur September 12), as originally reported. The iPad Mini, however, will be announced at a later keynote, possibly in October. With this strategy, the media can focus on the iPhone announcement in September, giving the iPhone more engrossment. Later, when the iPad Mini is announced, the new product will gain the spotlight.
John Gruber (from Daring Fireball) posted, “I don’t think Apple would want reviews of both a new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time. Why share the spotlight? Why have another Apple product battling with the iPhone for the top spots in news coverage? … The more I think about it, the less sense it makes for the iPhone to even share the stage at the announcement with any other product. The iPhone is too big, too cool, and garners too much attention - and it’s in Apple’s interest to keep that attention undiluted.”
It's logical that these product announcements will occur before the holiday shopping brouhaha. While the exact dates of Apple’s product announcements might not be set in stone yet, analysts are confident that we can expect a new iPhone and new iPad model in the upcoming weeks.
