It appears so. A teaser video has been released by HP which was shown by the Verge, and it shows a lot of fancy lighting, sound effects and thrilling music but at the very end, an ultra thin laptop appears for around 4-5 seconds. That’s it.
Tech analysts are guessing that there is another Ultrabook called HP Spectre, to be released by HP after their last year’s Folio 13. Now since this video comes days before the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012, the speculation is that HP will showcase the Spectre at the CES 2012.
Ultrabooks are sleek laptops, designed for the higher end of the spectrum and they aim to rival Apple’s Macbook Air. It is too early to speculate on the exact dimensions and design of the HP Spectre, but from the video, it’s clear that it will be ultra thin, and very sleek.
Other than that, all we can say is that we’ll find out more when CES 2012 kicks off next week in Las Vegas. Watch the teaser video and see what you can make of it.
Ultrabooks have had difficulty maintaining a low price point as Apple has done so with its Macbook Air ($1000). Asus, Lenovo, Toshiba and Acer – all have released Ultrabooks, but none of them have come close to Apple in terms of price point setting. This is predicted to be one major challenge which HP Spectre will have to overcome.
