Christmas is just around the corner, and if you are like other people then you might have a holiday tradition or two in your family as well. For some the tradition is to change their usual bedtime stories to something that will fit the festive season. And one of the best stories ever written is How the Grinch Stole Christmas by the famed children's author Dr. Seuss. And thanks to modern technology, the Grinch got an upgrade with his own iPhone and iPad app.
As you may already know, this popular children's book follows the story of the Grinch as he tries his all to stop Christmas from coming to WhoVille. The Grinch app does the original book proud, it retained all of the familiar black and red illustrations by Dr. Seuss, but the page are cropped and made allowed to pan a bit from side to side so it can easily be read on a small device like an iPhone or an iPod.
What made the Grinch app for the iOS is that you can choose to read it aloud yourself or you can choose to have the book read to you, which is also a treat since you can enjoy the book with your kid. The background music and sound effects really add to the experience as well. Another bonus added to the Grinch app is the ability to interact with the book. If you tap on a particular part of the illustrations, the narrator will describe the picture for you. So besides learning about the real meaning of Christmas, your kid will also learn a lot of other words, like chimnley (no, that's not a typo) and Santy Claus.
