Learning through iPhone games

Being a parent takes quite a lot of work. One of the hardest things about parenting is the lack of time and space you get for yourself. Parents are always looking for activities to put their children in to get a little free time for themselves.
These activities however may cost quite a lot money as well as give you the extra chore of washing more clothes. How about finding a cheap activity that not only gives your children hours of fun, but they can do at home? Not only that but how about finding something that teaches your children without them knowing it? Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?
Did you know that playing games, according to research engages a child cognitive skill? Oh yes it does. I was amazed when I read that as well. Play games allows the child to think of the best strategy to beat all the odds and win the game. One of the best games, that my own children love, is plants vs zombies.
If you are not familiar with this game, this is how it goes. You have to defend your house from the zombies that are approaching. They give you a variety of different plants, which you can use to plant on your lawn. You have pea shooters, walnuts, sunflowers, snow pea..etc. You have different stages such as on the roof, front yard, back yard equipped with a pool and even a stage you have to pass totally in the dark.
This game is quite addictive I must say and quite enjoyable. This game is all about strategy, if you don’t have the right plants on your lawn, the zombies will break through your defence and eat your brains.
There are other gaming apps for the iPhone that would encourage this type of thinking and in the long run help your child to be able to deal with challenging situations in life a lot easier.
Fun apps for children
- Word Scramble
- Bejewelled 2
- Memory Match
Let your children choose a few games that they want as well. You may even decide to have a little friendly competition to see who could get the highest points.
