Samsung Wave S8500 Can Run Android

When Samsung released its Bada powered Wave S8500 we all thought that the OS would be the enxt big thing from the company. It was promoted like crazy and at least in countries like India, it was projected as a cheaper alternative to Android. However, a year in to its release, (well, almost), Bada has seen little traction and the apps are nt there yet. Samsung has however released the Wave 2 with a larger screen and slightly better specs. The OS too got an update but like we said, long way to go before it matches Android.

So what if you have an old Wave lying around and want to do some cool experiments with it? Well thats what some smart Polish hackers are up to and it seems they have managed to do what many have been trying to achieve for well over the course of the last year. Make the Wave boot to Android. They have a video up showing the phone booting to Android.

The feat has been achieved by hacking in to the Wave’s bootloader using a security hole. That said, all is not well with the Android version (the same as the one on the Samsung Galaxy S) as it suffers from stability and RAM issues. But then, that is expected.
