Folks over at Engadget are reporting that Motorola – once the largest mobile phone maker in the world would be splitting in to two entities in January (which we already knew) and that the mobile division of the company would be getting a brand new logo.
The erstwhile boring black Motorola logo will reportedly make way for a new red colored one. If you were looking at a very different, drastic change in the logo, well thats not happening. Perhaps Motorola does not want to dilute the already popular logo by changing it altogether. Instead, a simple color change would make it apparent that the company is evolving.
Note that as of now, this is just a rumor. We are also unsure what logo the other division, (the one which takes care of mobile networks and other not so interesting things for us consumer tech enthusiasts) will be getting.
Motorola, which had almost decided to wind up its handset making unit back in 2009 has since then made great comeback – mainly thanks to Android and its Droid smartphone.
